Wealth On Main Street 276: Breaking the Cycle with Infinite Banking to Build Wealth Differently with Ashley Doyle

Breaking the paycheck-to-paycheck cycle didn’t require more hustle, but a better strategy!

On an episode of Wealth On Main Street, Jayson Lowe and Richard Canfield sat down with Ashley Doyle, a financial advisor with Ascendant Financial Inc., who transformed his financial life through the Infinite Banking Concept.

Ashley didn’t come from a financial background. Raised in Toronto by a single mother on social assistance, he had to navigate life with very little financial guidance. But his hunger to break the cycle led him down a Google rabbit hole that ended with a stack of books, including Becoming Your Own Banker by R. Nelson Nash

The moment he read it, he knew this was the path forward.

From Army Life to Financial Clarity with Infinite Banking

Ashley Doyle’s path to Infinite Banking began far from the financial world—in the Canadian Armed Forces. Serving in the military shaped his sense of structure, discipline, and teamwork, all of which now serve him in helping clients.

But like many others, financial stability didn’t come from his service. “Money matters weren’t part of the conversation,” he explained.

Growing up in Toronto under the care of a single mother, Ashley was familiar with financial scarcity. Military service took him around the world, exposing him to real hardship and poverty scenes that reframed his view of money entirely.

Our first-world problems aren’t so bad when you’ve seen true financial devastation,” he said.

That perspective sparked a mission:

‘To help others understand that there is a better way.’

Through Infinite Banking, Ashley began to see money not just as currency but as a tool, a system that, once understood, could be leveraged for security, growth, and legacy.

“I want to share this with others,” he said, emphasizing how so many North American families suffer not from lack of income, but from lack of financial education. His approach is about empowering people with the mindset and structure they need to take control.

Whether it’s helping someone pay off debt or fund future opportunities, his goal remains the same: move clients from confusion to confidence, and from stress to control.

Discovering the Infinite Banking Concept: Curiosity to Conviction

The introduction to Infinite Banking came by chance—a scroll through Instagram, where Ashley stumbled upon the term “Infinite Banking.” It piqued his interest. “I didn’t even know those two words went together,” he joked.

That casual discovery led to a deep dive. He started researching, and soon, he was buried in books. First came Money, Wealth, Life Insurance, which opened his eyes to the U.S. approach.

Then came Canadian-specific resources, like Alberto Starelli’s work, which affirmed that the strategy could work north of the border.

As he continued reading, one name kept surfacing: R. Nelson Nash. By the time Ashley picked up Becoming Your Own Banker, it all clicked. “I knew after the first book that this was a no-brainer,” he said. “By the fourth, I just needed to know how to implement it.

He found his way to Jayson Lowe and Richard Canfield’s Canadian-focused materials and recognized that the concept was more than theory—it was a practical solution.

“You know you have the right concept when you keep coming back to the same names and the same values,” he said. That alignment solidified his conviction.

Now, Ashley teaches others with the same passion and clarity he once sought. “Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. The only question left is—how far can you take it?”

Ascendant Financial: Staying Grounded in a Team Culture

What makes Ascendant Financial different?

For Ashley, it’s the culture of openness and support that happens behind the scenes. As someone with a military background, he knows what real teamwork looks like—and he sees that same spirit carried out among his colleagues every day.

“You’re not going to achieve this alone. You can be a lone wolf, but eventually, you’re going to burn out,” Ashley shared. That’s why team culture matters.

At Ascendant Financial, advisors regularly share resources, offer guidance, and show up for one another. “It’s not just about personal wins. It’s about helping each other win,” Ashley said. That level of genuine support fosters long-term growth for the advisor and for every client they serve.

This collaborative spirit extends to clients as well. When someone joins the community, they’re not just getting a single advisor—they gain access to a network of knowledge, experience, and accountability.

Ashley credits the team’s willingness to give honest feedback and stay aligned with Nelson Nash’s core principles as a key part of his own growth. “There’s a real truth here,” he said. “If you’re not a team player and you’re not in it for everyone, this isn’t the place for you.”

And that clarity? It’s what keeps the mission moving forward.

Infinite Banking: The Importance of Staying Plugged In

Ashley didn’t just read the books and attend training. He committed fully to staying connected to the source of Infinite Banking.

Within his first year, he’d already attended two Think Tanks through the Nelson Nash Institute. Why? Because he believes staying plugged into the mission matters.

“Over time, it’s easy to get comfortable in your silo,” Ashley explained. “But that limits your growth. When you attend events like the Think Tank, you remember where this started—and why it matters.”

He sees IBC as a mission, not a product. And attending educational events reminds him of that purpose. It helps him stay focused, grounded, and aligned with Nelson’s values.

Ashley encourages fellow advisors to do the same. “Whether you’re new or experienced, show up. Learn. Reconnect. It’s not about what you sell—it’s about what you believe.”

He believes the more you learn, the more you realize how much more there is to see. And for Ashley, that commitment to continuous learning and alignment with the original message is what makes IBC powerful—and personal.

Serving Others Through Directness and Truth

Directness is the cornerstone of Ashle’s coaching style. He doesn’t come across as a salesman or a cheerleader. He’s a guide—one who knows how to ask the hard questions and say what needs to be said.

“I don’t have a problem having a difficult conversation,” he said. “And clients appreciate that.”

His approach is rooted in a core belief: people need to understand the real problem before they care about the solution. “If you don’t understand the problem, then the solution doesn’t matter,” he often tells clients.

And the problem? A financial system that simply doesn’t serve the average individual.

Whether someone grew up without money or earns a strong income today, the reality is the same: most people were never taught how to control their finances, much less leverage them to build long-term wealth.

Ashley brings that reality to the surface—not with judgment, but with clarity. He mixes honest feedback with humor, breaking down big concepts into language anyone can understand.

That balance of truth and relatability is what makes his coaching effective.

“People want to be helped, not sold to,” he emphasized. “But they also need truth, even if it’s hard.”

What makes Ashley different is that he doesn’t just talk the talk—he’s lived it. He knows what it’s like to feel financially stuck. And now that he’s walked the path to clarity and control, he’s deeply committed to showing others how to do the same.

Clients respond to that authenticity. They trust him, not because he makes bold promises, but because he delivers consistent truth.

That’s the power of coaching with directness—and heart.

Cutting Through the Noise with Real Education

Information is everywhere, but clarity is rare.

“People come to me saying they’ve watched all the YouTube videos and read all the blogs, but they still feel lost,” he said.

That’s because not all content is created equal. “You can go down the YouTube rabbit hole for weeks,” Ashley said, “but that doesn’t mean you’re learning the right things.”

At Ascendant Financial, he points clients to curated, accurate resources—books, podcasts, case studies, and tailored guides. Everything starts with education, but it must be focused.

“When I send someone a resource, it’s specific to what we discussed,” he explained. “It helps them get clear on their concerns without wasting time.”

Ashley emphasizes that a personalized education plan is key to breaking the financial cycle. And with so much noise online, having someone filter the good from the bad is invaluable.

“I want people to understand the real concept,” he said. “Controlling how you finance your life isn’t just a strategy—it’s a mindset shift.”

Infinite Banking: Building Wealth for Future Generations

Who does Ashley want to be a hero to? His answer is clear: the youth of tomorrow.

If I can show them there’s a better way to secure their future and their family's future for generations, then I’ve done my part,” he said.

This mission isn’t just professional—it’s personal. Ashley is passionate about helping people become that “first generation” who breaks the cycle.

He sees IBC as more than just a financial strategy. It’s a tool for transformation. “Once you get that momentum,” he said, “you can't turn it off.”

Whether you’re a young professional trying to escape debt or a parent thinking about legacy, Ashley believes IBC offers something other strategies don’t: control.

“You don’t need permission from a bank to fund your future,” he said. “You need a system that puts you in charge.”

That’s what Infinite Banking did for him. And that’s what he now helps others discover for themselves.

Conclusion

Ashley’s journey shows us that breaking the cycle doesn’t require perfection. It requires intention.

He didn’t grow up with wealth. He didn’t start with a financial degree. But he got educated, took action, and stayed consistent.

That’s what IBC is really about:

Using what you have, where you are, and choosing a system that serves you.

As Ashley puts it, “We don’t need more sales pitches. We need more real conversations.”

Start with a book. Watch a trusted podcast. Ask a question. The first step to changing your financial future is deciding that today is the day you take control.

The cycle ends with you. And your new beginning? That starts now.
